They got the job on "Full House" because they didn't cry all the time, but Mary Kate and Ashley Olson turned that opportunity into quite the business in the long run. In a new interview with Net-A-Porter magazine, the 27-year-olds (yes, sorry, you're old) reveal that their fascination with fashion began very early, even before their Wal-Mart clothing line debuted.
"We'd be in six-hour fittings three times a week, because we had to wear 12 different outfits," Ashley says of her time on the show. Because there wasn't anything specifically like what the girls and the clothing designers wanted, they'd take adult pieces, including Chanel and Marc Jacobs, and tailor them to fit. "We were designing clothes for ourselves as we were so petite," Mary-Kate explains. "So I think that is when we became obsessed with fit, and now the obsession has become a profession."
Their luxury brand, The Row, is designed by the twins themselves, and continues to get rave reviews in fashion circles. It's a far cry from the overalls and high ponytails of our Michelle Tanner memories, but now we know those overalls were pretty pricey.
Here's one for your next cocktail party: The Olsen sisters are actually fraternal twins. Not identical. Makes you question reality.
