Mayim Bialik to divorce Michael Stone: 'Big Bang Theory' star and husband married 9 years
The actress, perhaps best known for her titular role in the 1990s sitcom "Blossom," announced the news today (Nov. 21) on Jewish parenting site Kveller.
"After much consideration and soul-searching," she writes, "Michael and I have arrived at the decision to divorce due to 'Irreconcilable Differences.'
"Divorce is terribly sad, painful and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly.
"The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision; relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose."
Bialik is active in the attachment parenting movement, which advocates natural childbirth, co-sleeping, wearing babies in a sling and breast-feeding children until age 2 and beyond, for a really long time and recently penned a book, "Beyond the Sling," about the controversial practice.
Bialik and Stone have two sons: Miles, 7, and Frederick, 4.
"The main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible," the actress continues in the statement. "Our sons deserve parents committed to their growth and health and that's what we are focusing on. Our privacy has always been important and is even more so now, and we thank you in advance for respecting it as we negotiate this new terrain.
"We will be ok."
