john-carroll-lynch-american-horror-story-freak-show.jpgAt the 2014 Comic-Con panel for "American Horror Story: Freak Show," executive producer Tim Minear teased several things about the upcoming fourth season of the FX horror anthology series -- he says Season 4 is the best season yet, he likened it to the serial killer movie "Zodiac" and he also revealed that John Carroll Lynch is playing one of the villains.

Minear says Lynch's character will rival any of the previous seasons' scary characters, like Rubber Man, Bloody Face or the Minotaur. And he adds that Lynch will "scare the s*** out of you."

There are no other details offered, but we have a sneaking suspicion that perhaps Lynch is the murderous clown we've heard about.

Lynch is one of those actors you probably recognize from a lot of things. We know him best from this past season of "The Americans," the all-too-short-lived "Carnivale," Norm Gunderson in the 1996 movie "Fargo" and, of course, Drew Carey's brother for the last seven seasons of "The Drew Carey Show."

We have a feeling Lynch's turn in "AHS: Freak Show" will be a stark departure from "The Drew Carey Show."

"American Horror Story" Season 4 premieres October 2014 on FX.
