the-civil-wars-gi.jpgBefore Taylor Swift hit the Grammy Awards stage last night with her visual ode to the dust bowl, we were regaled by a little ditty from folk-pop duo The Civil Wars.

The band consists of singer-songwriters John Paul White and Joy Williams, who met during a Nashville songwriting session in 2008. Their first releases as a band came in 2009 and the same year one of their songs was featured on "Grey's Anatomy."

In 2011, the duo released their first studio album, "Barton Hollow," and picked up a Grammy for Best Folk Album (along with one for Best Country Duo/Group Performance) at Sunday's (Feb. 12) Grammys.

They've also got a song on the soundtrack for the much-anticipated "Hunger Games" movie.

Williams, we should note, is expecting her first child with husband Nate Yetton in June.
