Melissa Leo moves to 'Wayward Pines' on FOX

melissa-leo-wayward-pines-gi.jpgOscar winner Melissa Leo has lined up her next TV role -- she'll star with Matt Dillon in FOX's limited-run series "Wayward Pines."

The "event series," slated to air in 2014, stars Matt Dillon as a Secret Service agent who travels to Wayward Pines, Idaho, in search of two missing federal officers and discovers a much deeper mystery (insert "Twin Peaks" comparison here). Leo will play a nurse who cares for Dillon's character when he wakes up in the hospital but has a much bigger agenda.

"Wayward Pines" is based on the novel "Pines" by Blake Crouch. Chad Hodge ("The Playboy Club") is writing the show, which M. Night Shyamalan will direct (both are executive producers).

Leo has moved back and forth between movies and TV frequently in her career. She won an Oscar in 2011 for "The Fighter" and was nominated for an Emmy later that year for her role in HBO's miniseries "Mildred Pierce." Her other TV credits include "Treme," "Homicide" and a memorable guest spot on "Louie" last year. Her next movie is "The Butler," due in theaters in August.
