'Melrose Place': Reunion at Club Melrose
On "Melrose Place," four tenants from the original series reunite for a good ol' celebration.
Jonah preps for his Hollywood soiree, and nothing's complete without his very own state-of-the-art fog machine. David, on the other hand, is busy moping about his sudden break-up with Lauren, but Ella insists the party is the perfect setting to pry the truth out of her, with alcoholic aid, of course. Meanwhile, Riley and Lauren plan a day out on 3rd St. until Drew (guest star Nick Zano) drops by to return Riley's underwear. Embarassing! Drew asks Riley on a pseudo-date: buying toys for the kids in the hospital's pediatric ward. Aww, the boy has a heart!
During this time, Amanda (guest star Heather Locklear) is reunited with Jane (guest star Josie Bissett), this time talking about Ella getting her due. Hm, what is up with those blonde divas? Ella deals with a crisis at WPK, an error in billing that has Amanda threatening to get down to the bottom of the error. Strike one, Ella. At the hospital, Dr. Mancini (guest star Thomas Calabro) calls Lauren in for a special consult -- and that is a euphemism for something else.
Riley and Drew connect at a toy fair, and he even shows off his Spanish chops. Now that Jonah's out of the picture, head straight for Drew, Riley! A major step up in the mope-o-meter. Back at the complex, Amanda is desperate to find that painting with Sydney's mystery message, and concocts a mysterious plan to get the tenants to talk. Ella arrives at a photo shoot where Jo (guest star Daphne Zuniga) is busy snapping away. Jo tells her account rep that oops, Ella actually underpaid her $200K due. Something fishy's going on ..
At Coal (oh yea, David owns it now), Morgan the blonde gives David a stolen watch as a gift. Yay? David tells her he doesn't want to see her again, but not so fast mister, her dad's (guest star Joe Lando) a pretty dangerous guy. At Jonah's party, complete with a DJ, light fixtures and at least a dozen people setting up, Ella is catching on to Amanda's plan to oust her. Ah, but she's not the only one having a bad day. Lauren complains about Dr. Mancini imposing his crazy work schedule on her, but like always, alcohol cures all. It's a quick buzz because Dr. Mancini gives Lauren a booty call. Yuck. Riley and Drew are on their faux date and aw, they actually are sort of adorable together. With Drew's boyish charm and Riley's newfound charity project, are they going to be Melrose Place's newest "It" couple?
Cue the night's first awkward moment between Jonah/Ella and Drew/Riley. Riley is hellbent on making Jonah jealous, and sorry, but Drew and Riley have this one in the bag. Up in the balcony overlooking Jonah's sweet party, Lauren insinuates that there's more to her than meets the eye, but doesn't elaborate when she sees Dr. Mancini waiting for her. Amanda catches up to him first, interrogating him about his presence and of course, he lies. And it's Jane, making her presence known, seeing her ex-husband for the first time in years. Time has been good for the both of them.
Amanda asks Ella about the account that had that "clerical error," and Ella lays it all out for her boss like loyal employee she is. Someone's embezzling money; shocker. Meanwhile, Drew and Riley play beer pong. Jonah comes strolling in wanting to school Drew. So beer pong is their version of a fist fight? And, bummer, Jonah wins the round. For those keeping score, it's a draw for Jonah/Ella and Drew/Riley. Lauren, on the other hand, is busy drinking her sorrows and is that a cheesy hand-to-the-door move? Slick.
While Jonah is grabbing something from one of the drawers at his apartment, he catches Riley and Drew making out. That's two for Drew/Riley, one for Jonah/Ella. Ouch. Because bad boys don't learn, David and Morgan continue their tryst, and she eyes the large painting on the wall. Amanda interrupts, telling him what's up with Sydney's paintings before she died, leading her to Auggie.
And if Jonah's impressive shindig doesn't strike your fancy, Jo is "mini-reunited" with Amanda, Michael and Jane. But, it's not really a happy reunion as Jo seems to think it's Amanda embezzling money out of her own company, if history serves right. Cue the night's second awkward moment, Drew makes a low blow to Jonah about deadbolting Riley's front door. Of course, that isn't acceptable to Jonah. Jonah drunk-defends his actions and Drew bluntly tells Jonah to lay off Riley because "she's not your girlfriend anymore!" The two get into a pool fight -- over Riley, of all people!
Dr. Mancini is a skeaze, standing outside Lauren's front door as he tries to worm his way into her apartment to get that transaction he paid for two episodes ago. Lauren's desire to protect her medical career makes her do something incredibly ballsy. She reveals to her friends that it wasn't work that she was feeling stressed about. "I had sex for money," Lauren tearfully said. "I was a prostitute." David's emotionless look is pretty damn scary.
The morning after, the residents are recuperating from their massive hangovers and Lauren's unfortunate revelation. Lauren and David try to patch their relationship, or whatever's left of it, but it's not as easy as it seems. Oh, and if it makes any difference, Lauren says the three words that would either shatter or make a guy's world, "I love you." While Jonah acts as the resident janitor, Riley schools him for acting like a jerk. At the hospital, Drew goes into the "morgue," and uncovers one of the bodies, cutting into the guy's chest with a scalpel. Huh? Meanwhile, Amanda suggests it's Ella who is the company's embezzler, but Ella is onto Amanda.
At the end of the day, it's Amanda's name on top. Ella, your move.
What did you think of the original "Melrose Place" cast members reunited onscreen? Thoughts on the seemingly short-lived Drew/Riley romance? What's Drew's real story?
