The pair will play mother and daughter in the big-screen version of the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning play described by the U.K.'s Telegraph as a "darkly comic melodrama in which a family crisis unfolds over the course of a family meal at the end of a funeral."

"After seeing Meryl Streep's mesmerizing portrayal as Margaret Thatcher in 'The Iron Lady,' it has me even more excited and proud to co-star with her," says Roberts in a statement.

The film will be directed by "The Company Men" director John Wells.
