Meryl Streep makes an oatmeal recipe sexy on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'

"August: Osage County" Oscar nominee Meryl Streep stops by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Monday (Jan. 20), where Ellen DeGeneres has the actress -- who is known not only for her acting prowess but also her voice -- read mundane things while in various characters. Check out these sneak peek clips.

The above video is hilarious. We particularly like Streep making an oatmeal recipe sound sexy -- "When oatmeal begins to thicken, reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes. 30 minutes?!"

Below, Meryl talks about her recent Oscar nomination and expresses her disbelief when Ellen tells her she's won 119 awards in her lifetime. Which is ... kind of staggering. We knew Streep had a lot of awards, but we wouldn't have guessed that many.

Meryl also says she's disappointed that her friend Emma Thompson wasn't nominated for "Saving Mr. Banks." "I was really shocked. And I wrote her a long, heartfelt email saying how bad I felt and she wrote me back and said, 'Good,'" Meryl laughs.

The 2014 Academy Awards air live on Sunday, March 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, with Ellen serving as host.
