Michael Lohan blames jail time on Lindsay Lohan using cocaine at age 18
Lindsay Lohan might be claiming that she first tried cocaine at age 21 and has only done it "four or five times" since, but her father Michael Lohan is telling a different story. According to him, her first experimentations with the drug began at age 18 when she was filming the 2006 movie "Just My Luck."
"Lindsay was filming in New Orleans and I got a call saying she had overdosed on cocaine. One of her assistants had given her the drug," Lohan tells The Sun. "I was so angry I got a gun from the house and planned to go to New Orleans to kill him. I couldn't believe what had happened to my daughter. I was just so angry."
According to Lohan, the night he found out about Lindsay's cocaine overdose was the same one where he infamously got in a drunk driving accident and ended up sentenced to a year in prison. He had been driving to the airport with a gun and intended to actually fly to New Orleans to threaten the assistant.
"After I was pulled from the car I couldn't believe how stupid I had been. I was angry but I wasn't going to shoot the guy. I am just glad that I did not get to New Orleans," he says.
Lindsay is currently serving a court-ordered rehab sentence in California, and it remains to be seen if she stays clean. Lohan doesn't expect his daughter to have any more chances in Hollywood if this one doesn't pan out.
"She was very happy and pleased to see me. I saw a real difference in her and hope that it can last," he says of a recent visit at the Betty Ford Center. "I know Lindsay wants to be different and I pray she will find her way. She is very positive. There is no quick fix to addictions. I know that from my work with addicts. When Lindsay comes out I will be there for her, and so will the rest of her family. She will have the support she needs."
