michael-mekean-gi.jpgA little more than a week after breaking his leg, actor Michael McKean is checking out of the hospital and checking into physical rehabilitation, this according to the NY Daily News.

It was on May 22 that the "Spinal Tap" actor was hit by a car as he was walking in New York. McKean's in the Big Apple while starring in the Broadway play "The Best Man." However, the injury has forced him to pull out of the production.

In a statement, McKean says, "I am heading into week two with renewed admiration for New York City's Emergency Medical Service staff, the NYPD, the staff of St. Luke's Hospital (where I was born!) and all those with problems much greater than my own."

He adds, "I am overwhelmed by the good wishes of friends old and new. My family has been wonderful. My wife, Annette, whom I've always suspected of being a saint, has proven to be somewhat more than that."

Get well soon.
