Michael Strahan joins 'Good Morning America,' receives new alarm clock and giant coffee mug

Tuesday (April 15) the folks at "Good Morning America" had a big announcement -- that didn't come as much of a surprise -- when it revealed that Michael Strahan, the former NFL player who now co-hosts "Live with Kelly and Michael," is joining the "GMA" crew.

"It's time to say good morning to Michael as he comes to 'Good Morning America,'" a voice-over intros the new cast member.

"We love you, we love Kelly, you've been great friends to us over the years. We're so, so excited you're going to join us a couple days a week," says Robin Roberts as Strahan walks out on stage.

George Stephanopoulos then gives Strahan an alarm clock, since his day will now be starting considerably earlier and thanks Strahan for his help on "GMA" when Roberts was on a leave of absence for her bone marrow transplant.

"It's a pleasure to get up early because you guys have been so good to us as well," says Strahan. "Kelly and I really appreciate it. Robin, you fill in for Kelly when she's not there. It's a family. ... I'm looking forward to it, I watch it every morning. I always sit there and I go, Oh, yeah, that's a good point.' Now instead of talking to the TV, I can actually be here with you."

Lara Spencer also gives Strahan a gigantic coffee mug. "This is the only coffee cup that makes my hands look small. If I drink all this, there will be one heck of a morning in America, I can tell you that," quips Strahan.

What do you think, "GMA" viewers? Are you excited to see Michael Strahan on your morning show a couple times a week? He'll officially start next week.
