arrived in Los Angeles for a two-day fundraising trip Sunday (Aug. 12). Beginning with a poolside "family day" at the home of No Doubt singer
, the first lady headed President Obama's re-election campaign fund-raising at full force.
The first lady told those in attendance, both young and old, "Barack can't do it alone,"
The Hollywood Reporter.
"He's not Spider-Man. He's not a superhero. He's a human, so we need your help," she continued. "I am not just talking to the adults here today. I am talking to the young people here as well. All of our young people -- you might not be old enough to vote. You vote at school, I know -- I met several young people who are going to be voting for my husband, who are 10 and under -- we accept those votes. But you can play an important role in this election, too. I want you all to feel empowered."
She and Stefani were joined by 400 guests from the Hollywood community, including Stefani's No Doubt bandmates,
Alyson Hannigan, Nicole Richie and
Joel Madden and their families. Tickets for the Sunday fun-day began at $2,500 for a family of four.
Later in the evening, the first lady also attended a second fundraiser hosted by Warner Bros. CEO
Michelle Obama will attend a final event Monday in Ladera Heights, and end the Los Angeles trip with a taping for
"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
