Michelle Obama wants everyone to vote on Election Day
"People should vote. No matter who you're voting for, vote. That's the point," she tells Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night talk show.
Obama also encouraged people to vote early -- many states are allowing residents to head to the polls before the official Election Day. Obama says she hopes people who vote early will be able to assist the disabled and elderly to the polls on Nov. 6.
"We're encouraging people to vote early and to use Election Day to help people get to the polls," she says. Registration rules vary from state to state, but Obama says you can check your voting status and your eligibility for early voting online.
To really get the word out, Obama and Kimmel collaborated on a cute video showing how she'll get Kimmel to remember what day it is next Tuesday. In the clip, she sneaks into Kimmel's bedroom at 5:30 in the morning with a megaphone and an air horn screaming "Election Day! Up and at 'em!" Of course, since Obama's main campaign has to do with healthy eating, she can't resist getting in an "eat some carrots" at the end.
