Miley Cyrus' 'New Year's Rockin' Eve': Grinding little person, white fur and 'Wrecking Ball'
Miley Cyrus performed at "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" in rare form. The oft-controversial singer gave a New Year's Eve concert at New York's Times Square, singing "Wrecking Ball" and "#GETITRIGHT." She also grinded with a little person and sported a full-length white fur throughout the performance.
In other words, it was about what you would expect from Miley Cyrus after the pop culture-dominating year she's had.
While Jenny McCarthy sang along with the crowd and licked a sledgehammer (someone had to), Cyrus danced energetically around her stage. The opening song, "#GETITRIGHT," was definitely the more spectacular of the two -- what with the dancing little person and all. We're not talking about racially charged, nightmarish teddy bears here, but it was still odd.
Miley and the concert slowed a little for "Wrecking Ball," a song that featured more passion and fewer theatrics from Cyrus. Whatever you think of the show as a whole, at least there's no denying that Cyrus put everything into her New Year's Eve performance.
On a classier note, Melissa Etheridge was on hand to sing in the New Year with a moving performance of John Lennon's "Imagine." It may not have had the spectacle enjoyed by Miley, but Melissa truly deserved that anchor spot.
