'The Mindy Project' Season 2: Mindy Kaling wants to bring the snow

mindy-kaling-red-carpet-nc-325.jpg Zap2it: You're the star, a writer and an executive producer on "The Mindy Project." Has that turned out as you expected?

Mindy Kaling: It is, but I never thought there would be so many facets of the job that I would enjoy doing. That was a big surprise. I love editing so much. I love writing and acting, but I spend 90 percent of my time in the editing room.

Zap2it: What did you like about editing?

Mindy Kaling: You can build moments that didn't exist. It saves you a lot of time on set, for sure. You feel like a wizard, and it's incredibly gratifying when you create something out of the air. Editing is one of the unexpected joys.

Zap2it: Does the cast have to be especially nice to you since you're also the showrunner?

Mindy Kaling: I like to think they're nice to me because of my sparkling personality and kindness and beauty, but that might have something to do with it. Cynically, someone might think that.

Zap2it: You've been renewed for a second season. Do you have plans?

Mindy Kaling: We never did anything with snow. That, to me, would be fantastic. So next year, I want to do some snow stuff. It's the most magical, decadent thing we do.

I'd love if the character dated a plastic surgeon. That would be fun ... and so stressful. He keeps staring at her nose. I notice noses.

Zap2it: Don't you like yours?

Mindy Kaling: Nah. It's on my list of changes. I could change it.
