The Miss America pageant returned to Atlantic City for the 2014 pageant after nine years of taking place in Las Vegas. This year's festivities saw Miss New York win for the second year in a row, as Nina Davuluri became the first woman of Indian descent to win the crown.

Miss New York wore a tiger-striped bikini, a simple yellow evening gown with a plunging neckline and did a Bollywood dance for her talent. Her question in the Q&A portion was about Julie Chen's recent admission of having plastic surgery done on her eyes because a news director way back when she was first starting out told her they needed to look less "Asian" and sleepy.

Davuluri is originally from Syracuse, she's 24 years old and her platform issue is celebrating diversity through cultural competency. Her career goal is to become a doctor.

The Top 5 were Miss New York, followed by Miss California (1st runner-up), Miss Oklahoma (2nd runner-up), Miss Florida (3rd runner-up) and Miss Minnesota (4th runner-up).
