Miss USA Nia Sanchez says Miss Indiana Mekayla Diehl wasn't the only 'healthy' pageant girl

Newly minted Miss USA Nia Sanchez doesn't think Miss Indiana Mekayla Diehl is the only Miss USA 2014 contestant with a "normal body." In an interview with "Today," she explains why she thinks 2014 was the year when the majority of the contestants were "normal."

"I feel like everybody across America has different body types, but on the pageant stage a lot of times you see the same one because we're all trying to just work out really hard and get fit. I feel like this year we had a very healthy class of girls," she says.

"That's what the pageant is about -- not being skinny and having the clothes fall off your bones, but being fit, healthy and active. And Mekayla is," Sanchez continues. "We're at the gym working out together, she was telling me how she does different sports. We all do. Someone else did hockey and we had girls who were wrestlers. It's an active year."

Though Sanchez earned the title of Miss USA, there was plenty of buzz about Diehl and her "normal" bikini body. There were people alternately applauding the 5-foot-8, size 4 contestant for not being rail thin, while others debated whether her slim size is actually what people should be considering "normal."
