The acclaimed actor is in negotiations to co-star in "Mission: Impossible 4," reports Deadline. He'll play an operative opposite Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt.

Production will begin this fall and will include shooting in the United States, Vancover, Prague and Dubai.

Renner's going to be pretty busy. During Comic-Con, Joss Whedon's upcoming film "The Avengers" revealed its cast, and Renner will take on the role of Hawkeye.

At 39, Renner is only now getting more popular recognition, although he's received acclaim for his previous work, including "Dahmer" (in the titular role), "S.W.A.T.," "North Country" and "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," in addition to the Oscar-winning "Hurt Locker," for which he received an Oscar nomination.

He can next bee seen in the Ben Affleck-directed "The Town," which opens Friday, Sept. 17.
