Lauren Scruggs, a model and writer who runs the LOLO fashion blog, tragically lost her hand and suffered severe facial injuries in a plane propeller accident Saturday (Dec. 3) as she was exiting a two-seater plane in McKinney, TX.

Her parents Jeff and Cheryl Scruggs appeared on "Today," where they told Ann Curry, "We're just so grateful to the Lord fors aving her. Lauren has a strong faith in Jesus Christ, as we do as a family. We've been surrounded by friends and family who have been praynig and lifting us up. It's been a horrendous two days."

As far as Lauren's outlook so far, her father says, "She's had an amazing team of doctors ... it's going to be several weeks before they know for sure what is going to happen with the eye. They operated her two days ago, just on the eye, for over six hours."

Her parents really seem to have a good attitude about it - she could have died, so they're thankful she's only as hurt as she is. But she's going to require a lot of physical therapy and emotional toughness.

Her mom says that she has that. "Lauren's a go-getter ... the doctors are so pleased right now because her progress has been phenomenal."

We with nothing but the best for the Scruggs family. You can follow her progress and donate to her medical fund at the Caring Bridge website.
