ABC's first promo for Season 5 of "Modern Family" centers around the one little word everyone wants to hear: "Yes!"

As the voiceover teases, "'Modern Family' will change with just one word," before a montage of the entire cast shouting in the affirmative. "But what's the question?" the narrator then asks. What's the question, indeed. Might Cam ( Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch ( Jesse Tyler Ferguson) finally tie the knot now that gay marriage is legal in California?

At a live table read of the premiere episode, held before an audience of Emmy voters on Aug. 14, it was revealed that the season opener will play around with this summer's legalization of same-sex marriage in Mitch and Cam's home state, Deadline reports.

The episode, titled "Suddenly Last Summer," was written by Jeffrey Richman, who said that the writers began working on the story "before the [Supreme Court] decision came down."

"We would have been extremely unlucky writers had the decision gone the other way," Rickman joked. And we an extremely unlucky audience.

Be sure to check out the promo above.

"Modern Family" returns for Season 5 with a special one-hour episode on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
