But it's the secret life of a John Hughes' character from one of Ringwald's trifecta of '80s teen films -- "Pretty in Pink" -- that's a tad more intriguing.

"Duckie [played by Jon Cryer] doesn't know he's gay. I think he loves Andie in the way that [my gay best friend] always loved me," Ringwald tells

Apparently, two endings were shot for the iconic film -- the one we all know in which Andie (Ringwald) and Blane ( Andrew McCarthy) are kissing in the street at prom and one in which Andie ends up with Cryer's Duckie.

"That ending fell so flat -- it bombed at all the screenings," Ringwald says. "I didn't realize it then -- I just knew that my character shouldn't end up with him, because we didn't have that sort of chemistry. If John [Hughes] was here now, and I could talk to him, I think that he would completely acknowledge that."

Do you think Duckie was really gay? Or did the two just lack chemistry?
