The network debuted a new trailer for the intense, dark and extremely intriguing new series on Wednesday (June 11), and it successfully teases what viewers are going to see when the series premieres with back-to-back episodes in July. "Finding Carter" tackles the highly complicated question of what happens when you find out the mother you adore and love is actually your kidnapper?

Carter (Kathryn Prescott) is just a typical teenage girl who has a great relationship with her mother. In fact, she thinks that she's got the perfect life. But that all changes when, after getting busted at a high school party by cops, the police figure out that Carter is actually a girl who was abducted from her real family as a child. Her mother isn't her mother at all, but is actually her kidnapper.

With her old life shattered beyond repair, Carter is then reunited with her real family and must learn to adjust to new parents, new siblings, a new life and even a new name that doesn't seem to fit. She then promises herself that she'll find her mother, her real mother, the one who raised her, before the police find and arrest her, while her real parents and siblings struggle to connect with their long-lost family member.
