MTV Movie Awards ratings rise with 'Avengers' and Rebel WilsonAdd to Favorites | 2014 MTV Movie Awards
The show, hosted by Rebel Wilson (who also won a pair of awards), averaged 3.8 million viewers. That's up from 3.2 million for last year's awards, which aired in June.
Demographic ratings also rose: The awards rose 21 percent in MTV's core 12-34 demo, while ratings among adults 18-34 and adults 18-49 were both up more than 40 percent over the 2012 show. The combined audience for the awards on MTV, MTV2, VH1 and Logo was 4.8 million people.
"The Avengers" and "Silver Linings Playbook" were the big winners at the MTV Movie Awards, each taking home three honors.
Notably absent from the awards was the "Twilight" franchise. Taylor Lautner won the award for "best shirtless performance," but "Breaking Dawn Part 2" wasn't even nominated for anything else -- this after four straight years of "Twilight" films winning for best movie.
