MTV VMAs 2013: One Direction booed as 'Best Song Ever' beats 'Blurred Lines' and 'We Can't Stop'
When you think of the best song of the summer, what pops instantly into your head? Probably the songs that are always constantly played on the radio, a.k.a. Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop," right?
Well, according to the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, the Best Song of the Summer is actually One Direction's "Best Song Ever." Voted on by the public, MTV tallied up which song best captured summer 2013 and One Direction won in a landslide of over 8.6 million votes.
Shocking, right? The audience certainly thought so, as the boy band was booed during their entire acceptance speech. Ouch.
Taylor Swift was definitely on the same page as the audience, since she was caught on camera saying, "Shut the f*** up," to BFF Selena Gomez when One Direction took the stage earlier in the night. Clearly, there is little love lost between Swift and One Direction's Harry Styles.
