'Mulaney': FOX's new sitcom wants to remind you of 'Seinfeld'
Every couple of years a new sitcom debuts that network executives are eager to compare to "Seinfeld."
It's a ridiculously high bar to reach, of course -- "Seinfeld" is one of the biggest and best comedies in TV history. FOX has a show this year, however, that is practically begging for comparisons: "Mulaney," starring comedian and ex-"Saturday Night Live" writer John Mulaney.
As you can see in this teaser for the show, it apes several signature elements of "Seinfeld," from the character types to the bits of Mulaney's stand-up woven into the show. Time will tell if "Mulaney" can even approach "Seinfeld," but once you get past the obvious comparisons it looks like there might be a decent show here, with a cast full of people who know their way around a punchline.
"Mulaney" is set to air at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT Sundays in the fall on FOX.
