mulaney-fox-key-art-banner.jpgJohn Mulaney has been working on the pilot for his sitcom, the aptly titled "Mulaney," for two years now. "We've almost got the first episode cracked," he jokes to Zap2it.

In fact, he actually is still working on the first episode of the show, which premieres Sunday, Oct. 5 at 9:30 p.m. on FOX. "We're just tweaking a little thing in it -- I've officially been working on this episode for two years," he says.

The pilot was originally filmed for NBC during the 2012-13 pilot season, and was picked up to series and redeveloped by FOX with most of the original costars, including Martin Short and Mulaney's former "Saturday Night Live" colleague Nasim Pedrad, in tact.

"Once this cast came together, it just became its own thing," Mulaney says. "We lucked out. We hit the lottery in such a big way with the cast. It becomes this whole other beast where you're writing for this cast as their characters and trying to adapt the characters to their actors because the actors are so great."

Zap2it has the exclusive first look at the sitcom's key art. Take a look below.
