Mumford & Sons have canceled multiple concerts as their bassist, Ted Dwane, is hospitalized and faces a necessary brain surgery. The Grammy-winning English folk rock band explain the urgent situation in a letter to fans on their official website.
"Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment," the band explains. "The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery."
The band has canceled their shows in Dallas, The Woodland, Tex. and New Orleans, originally slated for June 11, 12 and 13, respectively. They promise to reschedule those concerts and say tickets will be honored at a later date.
Mumford & Sons say they do not expect to cancel any further shows on their current tour, which continues through mid-September.
The band won Album of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards for their album, "Babel." Their single off the same record "I Will Wait" earned multiple platinum certifications.
