Zap2it: "Mystery Girls" appeared to be on a fast track at ABC Family from the time the idea first was announced. Did it seem that way from your perspective?
Tori Spelling: It came together so easily that it almost felt like it was too easy. Everything just worked out the way it was supposed to, with the script and the network and the casting. Doing the pilot, we were done by 9:30 on filming night, and it was seamless ... like we'd been doing it forever. And it's stayed that way ever since we started.
Zap2it: Are the opening credits of "Mystery Girls" meant to evoke "Charlie's Angels," which was one of the biggest hits produced by your father, Aaron Spelling?
Tori Spelling: Definitely. I obviously was very inspired by all of my dad's shows, and we really wanted to do "flashbacks" to our supposed "old show," so we loved doing that. We love putting on wigs and heels.
Zap2it: In being reunited with fellow "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum Jennie Garth, how beneficial has her sitcom experience from four seasons of "What I Like About You" been to you?
Tori Spelling: She's been really helpful in showing me just how to do it. And how to get through it.
Zap2it: Though you recently did the Lifetime reality show "True Tori," how is to get back to a more structured series schedule?
Tori Spelling: It's so hard, being away from my kids all day long -- but to get to come here and play with Jen all day, it really is a dream.
"Mystery Girls" airs Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
