Nancy Kerrigan will talk about Tonya Harding during the Winter Olympics
ESPN announced earlier in the week that its "30 for 30" series will feature a film called "Tonya and Nancy." Harding has been interviewed for it, but ESPN Films vice president Connor Schell said that as of Wednesday (July 24), Kerrigan had not.
On Saturday, we found out why: Kerrigan will give an exclusive interview to NBC for its own documentary on the incident, in which Harding's then-husband and her bodyguard hired a man to injure Kerrigan shortly before the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.
The crime and revelation of Harding's involvement created a media storm that resulted in huge ratings for CBS' Olympics coverage. (Kerrigan recovered from the attack and won a silver medal; Harding finished eighth.)
Both Kerrigan and Harding will speak to NBC's Mary Carillo about the incident and how it changed the trajectory of their respective careers. NBC's Winter Olympics coverage begins Feb. 6, 2014.
