"Nashville" had better get ready for a blast from the West Coast. Chris Carmack, formerly of "The O.C." has landed a recurring role for the last part of the show's first season.

Carmack will play the character of Will, according to a report from TVLine. Will is a new neighbor to Scarlett ( Clare Bowen) and Gunnar ( Sam Palladio), and -- considering the actor's rather attractive appearance -- he may end up a romantic rival of some sort. Carmack's role will recur throughout the final six episodes of "Nashville" Season 1.

Considering Rayna's ( Connie Britton) professed interest in signing Scarlett to her nascent record label, there's a chance that Will might be a neighbor who appears on the singer's way to the top. Alternatively, he might be the guy-next-door just before country fame comes calling.

Best known for his two-season role as Luke Ward, the rich jock of "The O.C.," Chris Carmack's other TV roles include guest parts on shows like "Smallville," "Desperate Housewives," "NCIS" and "CSI: New York"/ "CSI: Miami."

There is no word yet as to whether Carmack can sing.

"Nashville" airs Wednesdays at 10pm on ABC.
