'Nashville' picked up for full season; 'Malibu Country,' 'Last Man Standing' order extra scripts at ABCAdd to Favorites | Nashville
Meanwhile, the network is ordering additional scripts for Friday night comedies "Last Man Standing" and "Malibu Country," which premiered to impressive numbers on Nov. 2, before falling off somewhat in their second airing. Both shows have been asked to produce three more scripts before any other decisions about their future are made.
"Nashville" is only the second new series to get a full season at ABC, following the critically derided comedy "The Neighbors." Fellow first year dramas "Last Resort" and "666 Park Avenue" are still awaiting word of pickups beyond their initial 13 episode orders. "Nashville" likely had an edge as the network's highest-rated new drama and the second biggest gainer after NBC's "Revolution" in DVR playback figures among freshmen dramas on all networks.
"Nashville" also brings in additional revenue by making at least one song featured in each episode available as a digital download. The Wednesday night show's lower-rated timeslot rival "Chicago Fire" was picked up for a full season last week by NBC.
