On Friday (Oct. 18), NBC announced a major change in its programming schedule.
Blair Underwood's freshman drama "Ironside" and Mike O'Malley's new half-hour comedy "Welcome to the Family" have been canceled, the network announced in a press release. But the good news: the peacock has set premiere dates for the return of "Community" and the series premiere of "Chicago P.D."
Dick Wolf's "Chicago P.D." -- the spinoff of "Chicago Fire" -- will premiere at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 8, and the Season 5 premiere of "Community" will kick off with back-to-back episodes at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Jan. 2. "Community" will then settle into its 8 p.m. ET time period on Thursday, Jan. 9 followed by "Parks and Recreation's" 100th episode at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Before "Chicago P.D." premieres, "Ironside's" 10 p.m. Wednesday time slot for November and December will be filled with original programming including new episodes of "Dateline," "Saturday Night Live" holiday-themed specials and holiday music specials starring Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble.
Thursday nights from 8-9 p.m. ET for the rest of the fall season will include original back-to-back "Parks and Recreation" episodes, specials such as "SNL Halloween," plus a previously-announced edition of "The Voice" and "The Sound of Music Live!" broadcast. "The Sing-Off" will move into the time period in December for two weeks.
