Neil Patrick Harris admits to talks with CBS about late-night hosting
When asked if he was close to signing on the dotted line, NPH says, "Not in conversation like about to make a deal, but they called me, sat me down and asked if that would be something I'd be interested in doing since I have a good relationship with CBS."
When Stern wanted to know all the specifics, Neil happily obliged divulging he met with CBS head Les Moonves at his office and they chatted over sushi about the prospect of him taking over the "Late Show."
Sadly, the idea doesn't appeal to the actor. He tells Stern,"I think I would get bored of the repetition fast. The structure of it is so set. I don't have any interest in doing monologue, commercial, sketch, guest, musical act, goodnight."
Although he said no to a nightly format, NPH revealed he has pitched an idea to the network they are still interested in: A weekly variety show that gives the actor the opportunity to showcase what he does best with more acts and time to prep than the nightly commitment allows.
Are you excited there is still hope Neil will be on our TV screens in a weekly capacity sometime soon?
