New 'Avatar' clip revealed during MTV live chat
If you have to invade an indigenous species for a precious mineral, you might not want to take a backpack full of goodies.
Or else the Thanator -- a teeth-gnashing, roar-unleashing, forest-destroying monster -- might be drawn to you in a way that could mean life or death... or at least so it seems in a newly released clip from James Cameron's "Avatar."
During an MTV.com hour-long online interview with Cameron and lead actors Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, fans learned new truths behind Cameron's brainchild.
Some interesting tidbits:
- Cameron did design this film to be the first in a series. As the director put it, "This could be a persistent reality for fans."
- The one thing Cameron wants people to take away from the film: "Get out of your own bubble to see another reality; open your eyes."
- From now on it's 3D or nothing for the "Titanic" director. That's just how much fun he's had with bringing this world of Pandora to life.
Good stuff, right? Visit MTV.com for more information, but in the meantime, check out the clip. After fans got to pose their own questions to the star power through Facebook and their phones, the video was the whipped cream on a nice CGI sundae.
The forum was just one component of MTV's comprehensive dive into all things "Avatar." In mid-December, another installment of our "Behind the Screen" movie series will include interviews with the "Avatar" stars and clips from the film, which hits theaters on Dec. 18.
