New 'Dads' poster sums up the viewing experience

FOX has released a new poster for its sadly still-airing sitcom, "Dads." It's probably unintentional, but the poster might sum up the experience for viewers of the show: boredom, changing the channel and contemplating suicide.

After pretty much universally negative reviews, FOX has been insisting that its comedy -- which wastes the talent of actors like Seth Green, Giovanni Ribisi, Martin Mull and Peter Riegert -- is merely "irreverent" instead of "bad" or "offensive."

Whether that's working or not, the new poster reinforces the more negative viewpoint. In it, we see the two dads (Mull and Riegert) looking kind of grumpy on a couch. Mull is in the act of changing the channel. Their two sons stand behind them. Ribisi looks like he would like to be absolutely anywhere but where he is. Green, meanwhile, seems to be trying to hang himself.

FOX orders six more scripts for "Dads."

Although some people are obviously watching this show (ratings are not at 0), others might agree that the poster accurately describes how the rest of us feel.

If you must watch, "Dads" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on FOX.
