'New Girl' casts a Disney star to woo Winston

If you must go from Disney kid star to sitcom, "New Girl" is probably an easy transition. So it's appropriate that the light and funny sitcom has cast a Disney girl, Brenda Song, to play an upcoming role in the series.

Song, who played the character of London Tipton on both "The Suite Life with Zack and Cody" and "The Suite Life on Deck," will play a character named Daisy on "New Girl," EW.com reports. Daisy is described as an intense and competitive young woman with an interest in Winston ( Lamorne Morris). She becomes interested when the man fails to hit it off with Holly (guest star Brooklyn Decker) at the bar.

Since Daisy is apparently a woman who hates "quitters," it makes sense that she's going for Winston instead of Nick ( Jake Johnson). It's hard to imagine much of a friendship there.

While Winston has to deal with Brenda Song's character, Jess ( Zooey Deschanel) will interact with a guest star of her own -- Nate Corddry ( "The Daily Show") will appear as a guy whose purpose may just be to creep-out Jess.

"New Girl" airs Tuesdays at 9pm on FOX.
