New 'Prince of Persia' trailer shows off Jake Gyllenhaal's... accent

jakegyllenhaal_princeofpersiatrailer_290.jpgOkay, Jake Gyllenhaal, how about you just sit over there and look pretty? No? Well, then enough with the silly accents.

The new "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" trailer has action, adventure and one very funny look at Jake playing posh. Seriously, the guy looks amazing as Prince Dastan, and even gets in what looks to be some parkour moves, but then he opens his mouth and... well... for some reason, Americans just sound silly affecting that plummy, upper-crust Brit twang. At least fellow Disney action-adventure star Johnny Depp went for funny pseudo-cockney for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.

Maybe Gyllenhaal felt he had to keep up with legitimately accented co-stars Gemma Arterton and Ben Kingsley? Only he knows for sure.

Oh, and the trailer? Gives those of you who didn't play the video game a quick primer on the plot, and then shows off some very nifty setpieces involving lots and lots of sand.
