Will whoever is featured as the headliner of the 2015 Super Bowl halftime show be determined by how much money they're willing to hand over? According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the NFL has asked some of the possible candidates to pay for the job.

The report claims the field of potential performers have been narrowed down to Rihanna, Katy Perry and Coldplay. A source says representatives of the league have also asked some of the acts if they would contribute a portion of their tour earnings, post-Super Bowl, or be willing to make a financial contribution. The suggestion did not receive a positive response.

When asked for a comments, NFL spokeswoman would only say that the contracts between the league and halftime show performers were confidential. Super Bowl XLIX will air live on Feb. 1, 2015.
