Nicki Minaj gives Barack Obama a Twitter shout-out: She's not endorsing Mitt Romney

nicki-minaj-dirty-song-lyrics.jpgWe still don't know if Nicki Minaj will join the judges table on the next season of "American Idol," but we do know she's not endorsing Mitt Romney for president.

Last week, the controversy-courting rapper/singer/fashionista surprised quite a few people when she seemingly revealed she'll be voting for Romney via a guest rap on Lil' Wayne's mixtape "Dedication 4."

When Orlando radio hosts Obie and Lil Shawn asked Barack Obama about Minaj's "endorsement" during a phone interview this morning, the president responded: "I'm not sure that's actually what happened. She likes to play different characters, so I don't know what's going on there."

And Minaj later took to Twitter to declare Obama was right on the money: "Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do... *sends love & support* @BarackObama."

She followed that with: "Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question."

The lesson here? Maybe it's best not to take the lyrics of someone who raps about being possessed by a demon at face value.
