TV chef Nigella Lawson was dining with her husband, millionaire art collector Charles Saatchi, at Mayfair in London, when fellow diners witnessed something completely shocking. Photos have appeared online showing Saatchi with his hands around Lawson's throat, seemingly choking her.
The photos appeared on the Mirror, and included a description of the altercation. Along with a "tirade of angry words," Saatchi allegedly grasped Lawson around the neck four times. He also reportedly tweaked her nose and pushed both hands in her face.
By the end of the exchange, Lawson was said to be in tears. According to someone who witnessed the incident, "I have no doubt she was scared. It was horrific, really. She was very tearful and was constantly dabbing her eyes." Eventually, Saatchi left Lawson at the table. "He looked guilty," the onlooker says, "It was clear he knew he'd done something wrong."
The Daily Mail reports that hours after the restaurant incident, Nigella was seen leaving the home she shares with her husband, suitcase in hand. Meanwhile, social media erupted with people condemning the act as "horrifying," among other things.
Neither has commented in the situation.
