Jackie Peyton alienated everyone close to her in the Season 6 finale of "Nurse Jackie," so it makes sense that casting for Season 7 would provide her with a new friend. Tony Shaloub is joining the Showtime hit as Dr. Bernard Prince, a character who will apparently fill that void for a post-DUI arrest Jackie.

Showtime describes the "Monk" star's recurring character as "a new ER doctor who has a great bedside manner, a special touch with his boss, Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith), and who offers Jackie something she desperately needs -- a friend."

Meanwhile, Peter Facinelli's Dr. Fitch Cooper will have a significantly smaller role in Season 7, as he asked at the time of the show's renewal to be released from his contract as a series regular. It's unclear how he will seemingly be written off the series.

"Nurse Jackie" Season 7 is expected to premiere in spring 2015.
