Obama campaign video features 'Harold & Kumar' stars Kal Penn and John Cho but no pot

Barack-Obama-Harold-and-Kumar-YouTube.jpgComing Thursday (Sept. 6) night to a television near you: "Harold & Kumar Go to the Democratic National Convention"? Well, at least one half of the infamous pot-smoking, White Castle-eating duo will be there. Kal Penn (Kumar) is hosting the convention's online livestream coverage from Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday, when President Obama is scheduled to speak.

To promote the appearance, President Obama's campaign released a new ad on Monday featuring Penn and John Cho (Harold) as their movie counterparts watching TV on a sofa and eating junk food (no bongs in sight ...). During the 53-second spot, Obama is seen making a mysterious telephone call.

"This is Barack. Listen, I need to know if you're on board. OK, good. Cause I'm counting on you -- everybody is. We have to get this right. Just remember that I'm trusting you on this, and I'll see you there," the president says.

The scene then cuts to Penn and Cho, who seem nonchalant about the president's call.

"Sweet," Cho says when Penn, who served in the Obama administration's Office of Public Engagement, tells him who was on the line.
