Octopus pants help Billy Horschel stand out at 2013 U.S. Open

Billy Horschel might have come in eighth place overall at the U.S. Open 2013 tournament, but he was the definite winner in the fashion department. The PGA tour rookie made waves with his octopus pants from Ralph Lauren RLX and have gained plenty of interest in his sponsor company.

As part of his sponsorship deal with Ralph Lauren, Horschel spent the week wearing a variety of outfits provided by the clothing company. It was the promise of octopus pants that had the Twitterverse a flutter, and Horschel finally revealed the intriguing set of slacks during the final round of the US Open on June 16.

"Well here they are! The highly anticipated highly controversial....Octopus pants! Great outfits all week by RLX!" he tweeted.

Horschel ended the Open in eighth place at 3-over, only four strokes behind final-round leader Phil Mickelson. In addition to his quirky sense of style, Horschel revealed in his PGA Tour bio that he is a "believer in Bigfoot and UFOs" and loves "The Twilight Saga."
