Olympian Gabby Douglas talks judging the 'So You Think You Can Dance' finale
We talked to Douglas about being on the show and what else is going on in her life. Check out what she had to say in this interview.
Why did you want to be a "SYTYCD" guest judge?
Gabby Douglas: I'm really stoked! I'm going to have so much fun -- it's going to be a great
night. I'm not going to be out there competing, so this time I'm in the judge's seat and I'm going to see how that can be.
I love the show, so I definitely wanted to be a guest judge. I know how they feel about being out there and competing. I want to sit down and watch the great, amazing talent. And judge them!
Have you been watching the current season?
Gabby Douglas: I have not, but I am catching up right now. [laughs] But I love the show. I definitely watched it right after the Olympics.
What are your favorite dance styles?
Gabby Douglas: I love hip hop or contemporary -- it's really pretty.
Do you have any dance background yourself?
Gabby Douglas: I used to do ballet. But I wasn't really graceful. [laughs] I did take a couple classes on how to turn gracefully, so it came in handy.
If you have the chance to study dance in the future, which styles would be your picks?
Gabby Douglas: I would love to learn ... I don't know! I like jazz and tap dancing. I think that's pretty cool!
Since you're about to have a second book come out, what can you say about the experience of writing?
Gabby Douglas: I actually have two books. The first one is called "Grace, Gold and Glory" and the second one is "Raising the Bar." A lot of people were wondering where I came from and how my background was.
After "So You Think You Can Dance," what big things do you have coming up?
Gabby Douglas: Another Olympics!
What are some of the coolest things you have been able to do since the Olympics last summer?
Gabby Douglas: I don't know. I'm really stoked about being a guest judge on "So You Think You Can Dance," and I think that's going to be a very cool experience. There's been a lot of amazing opportunities. Yesterday, played ping pong for a charity event. It was really fun -- getting to do things like that.
The final competition performances of "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 10 will air Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 8pm on FOX.
