Olympian Gabby Douglas wanted to quit and work at Chick-fil-A before the OlympicsAdd to Favorites | Bethenny
"Training can be intense, but you gotta do it. ... I envy [my friends] because they had a life I wanted to live. I wanted to go out on Friday nights, hang out on the weekends and have sleepovers," says Douglas. "But it takes sacrifice. My mom kept reminding me they can go to birthday parties, but you went to Italy for a competition, so it's all about perspective."
"I had a low point where I wanted to quit and work at Chick-fil-A right before the Olympics. ... I just love their sandwiches," laughs Douglas. "I wanted to quit because I was homesick and I missed home. I wanted to go back with my family because it was Christmas and they were going back to Virginia Beach and I was in Iowa and they said no, we can't let you quit."
Douglas also says that she has experienced bullying in her life and here is her advice for any young people who are going through that -- "I definitely recommend telling an adult. But I would have to say all the sacrifice and hard times made me a stronger person."
