Greg Louganis, possibly the greatest diver in sports history, has announced that he has gotten engaged to his partner, paralegal Johnny Chaillot. The couple plans to wed in the fall of 2013.

As reported by People.com, the 53-year-old Louganis is finally ready to take the plunge into marriage. "I finally met my soul mate -- the more I fall in love with Johnny, the more I fall in love with myself. This is what the universe had in store for both of us," Louganis said.

An active Olympian during three separate Games, Louganis won a silver medal for the 10m platform dive in Montreal (1976), gold medals for the 10m platform and 3m springboard in Los Angeles (1984), and two more gold medals for the same events in Seoul (1988). The diver also has numerous gold medals from diving world championships and the Pan American Games.

Louganis is now a diving mentor, judge and motivational speaker -- he recently was a coach on the ABC series, "Splash." His best-selling autobiography, "Breaking the Surface," detailed his coming-out publicly (Louganis was one of the first prominent, openly gay athletes) and his HIV diagnosis in 1988.
