team-usa-figure-skaters-today-show.jpgThe U.S. figure skating team stopped by the "Today" plaza in Sochi, Russia Monday (Feb. 10) to talk about the bronze medal they won in the first Winter Olympics team figure skating competition -- which they are happy with, but say that's not the best they can all do.

"I haven't even had close to my best skate. I got [a poor skate] over with early and now it's time to focus on the individual event," says Jeremy Abbott, who had a rough men's short program in the team competition.

"This is a great warm-up for us," adds pairs skater Simon Shnapir. "We're ready to go tomorrow and Wednesday."

Ashley Wagner, meanwhile, addresses the face she made when her women's short program score was revealed during the team competition: "I wear my heart on my sleeve," says Wagner, but says that despite the score, she's happy with how she did. " ... I came off from the rocky Nationals and I needed to prove to myself more than anything that one competition didn't define me."

One skater Wagner and her fellow U.S. women's singles skaters will have to look out for is Yulia Lipnitskaya, a Russian skater who dominated the women's skates in the team event.

"She's amazing. She's a machine and she's a really tough competitor and I can't wait to skate against her again in the individual," says Gracie Gold.

Individual figure skating events kick off Tuesday with the pairs short programs.
