'Once Upon a Time': Puppetmaster Peter Pan grew up with RumpelstiltskinAdd to Favorites | Once Upon a Time
The present-day action was entirely encased in Neverland and everything kind of wound around in a big circle -- Henry started off the episode with Peter Pan and woke up at the end of the episode with him, not knowing what had transpired in between. But he had gone from feeling like a hopeful, loved little boy to a sad, lost one. Awww.
We don't think Henry has completely given up hope, but he certainly is starting to lose it. He has no idea that half his family is traipsing through the island, exploring Baelfire's old cave to try to find a clue as to Pan's whereabouts.
Meanwhile, the other half of his family, Gold and Neal, actually manage to get Henry back from Pan -- only to have Pan steal Henry back. It's all part of Pan's game, it would seem. He acts as though he's been the puppetmaster for years and years, "letting" Bae leave from Neverland to go become Neal.
Perhaps Pan knew that he needed Baelfire to go out in the world, meet Emma and create the boy who was to become the truest believer? Interesting.
Also interesting is that apparently Rumpelstiltskin grew up with Peter Pan. That's not surprising at all and it's a flashback we're excited to see, surely the show will go there eventually.
Speaking of flashbacks, we did love the fleshing out of Rumpel/Bae's complicated relationship. Bae's response to not being given the choice to come home and Rumpel instead using magic was heartbreaking.
In other news, Emma is still devastated over the loss of Neal, which causes Mary Margaret to tell David she'd never get over losing him -- which is unfortunate, since he's dying of Dreamshade poison.
But when the episode ends, it's kind of same old, same old. Henry's still with Pan and everybody's looking for him. But next week should prove interesting, because you just know the minute Emma smooches Captain Hook, she's going to find out Neal's alive. Plus, Hook flashback!
What did you think of "Nasty Habits"?
