'Once Upon a Time's' Emilie de Ravin: Rumpel and Belle start the 'guard dropping down between them' in 'Lacey'
"When Mr. Gold walks in alive, that swells up a lot of emotions, in her actually seeing that he does really want to help and get her discharged," says de Ravin. "Unfortunately, we are intercepted by our lovely, friendly Regina, who is, as per usual, trying to mess up Gold's life."
With Regina out for revenge against all those she blames for losing her mother, Belle is an obvious first target -- hit Mr. Gold where it hurts. And she does so by concocting a new persona for everyone's favorite librarian.
"Now I'm a blank slate, so she gives me a memory of this girl Lacey, who couldn't be more juxtaposed to Belle. Different demeanor, the way she dresses, walks, talks, looks," says de Ravin. "She exits the hospital that way and goes straight to her favorite place, the Rabbit Hole. She's a nice girl, she's not slutty. She's just a very free-spirited person."
We've seen the pictures of Lacey playing some pool and drinking beer at her favorite bar, but there's also the Fairytale Land counterpart to the story.
"The portion in Fairytale Land in the Lacey episode -- [Rumpel and Belle] are not in love yet. They're still figuring things out yet," says de Ravin. "Rumpel has a thief named Robin Hood who steals something from him and in true Rumpel style, beats him up quite a bit.
"The right thing to do is for Belle to release him, so she does. She's basically putting her life on the line for Rumpel to kill her or get rid of her, but he doesn't. That's sort of the start of a little bit of the guard dropping down between them," she says.
