'One Tree Hill' series finale ratings highest of the season

sophia-joy-oth-finale.jpgThis morning, "One Tree Hill" fans woke up to our equivalent of a post-apocalyptic landscape: For the first time in nine years, there are no new "One Tree Hill" episodes to look forward to. Are there support groups for this?

At least we know we're not alone. The ratings for the series finale were the highest of the season, matching season high Wednesday night ratings in adults 18-34 (0.9/3), adults 18-49 (0.8/2) and women 18-49 (1.1/3). In the CW's target demographic, women 18-34, the two-hour "One Tree Hill" goodbye posted the best numbers since February 23, 2011.

According to The CW's press release, "Versus Wednesday of this same week last year, last night was up 50% in adults 18-34, 40% in women 18-34 and 33% in adults 18-49. Week to week, last night was up 29% in adults 18-34, 27% in women 18-34 and 14% in adults 18-49."

The first hour of the finale event, a series of interviews with the cast, garnered approximately 1.37 million viewers, with 1.42 million tuning in for the actual series finale.
